It offers various activities, including networking sessions, presentations by experienced professionals, and panel discussions on industry-related topics. We are delighted to invite you to our event, the CSCE Career Forum, which will take place in January 2024. As an organization dedicated to promoting and advancing civil engineering, the Canadian Society for Civil Engineering (CSCE) Montreal Section is proud to extend this special invitation to you. This event is organized jointly by the Montreal Section and the McGill and Concordia Chapters – thanks to all the volunteers!

The CSCE Career Forum: Connecting Generations of Civil Engineering

The purpose of the Career Forum event is to connect civil engineering students with seasoned professionals, providing a unique opportunity for learning and networking. Our guest speakers, with years of experience and in-depth knowledge, will share their career paths, anecdotes, and insights into civil engineering.

What to Expect?

  • Friendly Networking: Upon your arrival, you’ll have the opportunity to connect with other civil engineering enthusiasts. Enjoy 30 minutes of networking over refreshments and hors d’oeuvres.
  • Guest of Honor Presentation: Our guest of honor will take the stage to share their inspiring academic and professional journey, answer your questions, and provide valuable insights.
  • Roundtable Discussions: Participate in captivating discussions during our roundtable sessions, where all participants are invited to discuss three current industry topics. The 15-minute discussions will be conducted in a relaxed atmosphere, allowing you to explore different perspectives on these issues and engage with your peers.
  • Networking and Conclusion: After the roundtable sessions, you’ll have the opportunity to network with your peers and experts. Together, we will draw conclusions and establish a roadmap for the future of civil engineering.

Honorary guest

We are delighted to introduce our honorary guest, Benoit Latapie, who will be joining us for our upcoming CSCE event. Benoit is a highly accomplished engineer with a wealth of experience and a remarkable career journey that spans various leadership roles within the engineering field.

Benoit currently serves as the National Vice President of Ground Engineering and Materials at WSP, a leading engineering company. In this role, he has made significant contributions to the growth and success of WSP’s Ground Engineering and Materials service line, overseeing a team of over 1,750 professionals and managing substantial revenue growth. With a background in geotechnical engineering, Benoit has held key positions in major projects, demonstrating his technical leadership, people management skills, and commitment to delivering exceptional results. His career has taken him to different parts of the world, including the United Arab Emirates and the United Kingdom, where he has worked on a wide range of engineering projects.

Benoit’s journey in civil engineering is an inspiring one, and we look forward to hearing about his experiences, insights, and the valuable lessons he has learned throughout his career. His presence at our event will undoubtedly enrich our discussions and provide valuable perspectives on the engineering industry.
